Welcome to 'Pass Plus Driving Instructors'

Pass Plus Driving Instructors is designed to provide a portal for the learner driver.  It is aimed at promoting safer driving throughout the UK, providing an understanding and awareness to how the Pass Plus scheme is run and how it can benefit you and other road users.

The Pass Plus certification can be awarded by any driving instructor that is registered as a  'pass plus driving instructor'. 

For your convenience, we have provided a link at the bottom of this page to a list of registered pass plus instructors throughout the UK and a list of insurance companies that recognise the pass plus certification and offer discounts to the holder of the Pass Plus certificate. 


About Pass Plus


The Pass Plus scheme is aimed at newly qualified drivers.  It was set up in 1995 by the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) and it has the support of the Driving Instructors and motor insurance industries.  As a newly qualified driver, you are far more vulnerable than you might think.
 
Ok, so you have passed your driving test but this does not automatically qualify you as an experienced driver. Driving solo exposes you to new experiences and situations, situations that you may not have experienced in previous lessons. How you react to these situations, will ensure not only you and your passengers safety but also other road users.
For example:

Imagine a journey that involves driving through the night, adverse weather conditions or having to use the motorway.  You have to ask yourself, are you really prepared?

Facts

Recent statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident within the first 2 years of driving than at any other time in their driving career, despite their age.

· 2 people under the age of 25 die every single day on our roads

· For every 5 new drivers in the UK, 1 will be involved in an accident within the first year of driving.

Solution

Pass plus offers newly qualified drivers the opportunity to:

· Improve and enhance their existing skills safely· Learn new skills and knowledge to make you a more positive driver
· Reduce the risk of being involved in an accident
· Establish a considerate and courteous attitude to other road users

What is Pass Plus And How Will It Benefit You?

Pass Plus consists of 6 modules. Each module addresses different scenarios such as:

  • Town driving
  • All weather driving
  • Out of town and rural driving
  • Night driving
  • Dual carriageways
  • Motorway driving

In order to be awarded the ‘Pass Plus’ certificate, you must complete a minimum of 6 hours training.

There is no test to be taken, as your instructor will continually assess your progress throughout training. Upon completing the required training, your instructor will send

the relevant paperwork to the DSA, who will then issue you with a numbered, non- transferable certificate.

Discount Insurance

The Pass Plus scheme is recognised by many leading insurance companies. These companies offer discount premiums to the holder of a 'Pass Plus' certificate.
